Day : 01

Begin Tour * Arrive Cairo

 

 

 

Welcome to your Cox & Kings 'Land of the Pharaohs' tour! Following arrival in Cairo you will be met and assisted by our local representative who will help you check into your hotel. (D)

 

 

Day : 02

In Cairo * Visit To The Pyramids And The Sphinx * Papyrus Factory * Perfume Factory * Jewellery Factory

 

Today, we spend the morning at the Great Pyramids of Giza; Cheops - one of the oldest and largest pyramids on the Giza plateau, Chephren and Mykerinos, and the defending Sphinx. The Great pyramid is the only remainder of the seven ancient wonders of the world. Out of all of Egypt's monuments, one of the oldest and the most majestic is the Sphinx, the body of a lion and the head of a human. Then proceed to the Papyrus Museum, well known for its Papyrus handmade paper. See the process and efforts taken to make the paper and enjoy the illustrative Egyptian art and stories painted depicting the Egyptian lifestyle and culture. Later see the Perfume Factory where they demonstrate the technique of perfume making. Our last stop is the Jewellery Shop, where you can shop to your hearts content. (B, D)

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day : 03

 

Onto Aswan * Board The Nile Cruise * Aswan Tour

  

Early morning transfer to Cairo airport for your flight to Aswan. Later you will be taken to your Cruise ship for a three nights Cruise. In the afternoon enjoy sightseeing of Aswan - the High Dam, the unfinished Obelisk, the Agha Khan Mausoleum and the Nilometer. (B, D)

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day : 04

On The Cruise * Onto Kom Ombo

 

Today, sail to Kom Ombo, which is the home of Sebek, the crocodile God who was worshipped in pre-dynastic times. Here we see the ancient remains of a temple of a somewhat unusual style. In fact it is a double temple. The right hand temple is the one consecrated to the god Sebek - the God of fertility and the second one is dedicated to the Great Horus - the Solar God. This temple was built overlooking the Nile. Later, continue on the cruise to Edfu. (B, L, D)

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day : 05

On The Cruise * Edfu * Onto Luxor

 

Land of The Pharaohs

Today, after breakfast we take a horse carriage ride across to visit the Horus Temple at Edfu. This is the best preserved temple in the whole of Egypt. This temple has many inscriptions in the copthic language and paintings from that era. After the temple visit, we sail to cross the Esna Lock on the river Nile to reach Luxor at night. Overnight onboard the Cruise. (B, L, D)

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day : 06

Fly to Cairo * Sound And Light Show At The Pyramids

 

 

This morning we go across to the west bank of the Nile River to visit the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and the Colossi of Memnon. Later transfer to the airport to board your flight back to Cairo. On arrival look forward to a dazzling show, Egypt's first Sound and Light Show at the Giza Pyramids. This spectacular show uses the latest techniques in narrating the history and culture of ancient Egypt with magnificent sound and light effects against the Pyramids as a backdrop.(B, D)

 

 

Day : 07

In Cairo * City Tour * Khan El Khalili Market * Optional Dinner On A Cruising Restaurant With Live Entertainment * Return Home With Happy Memories

 

Today after breakfast, depart for your city tour of Cairo. Visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. It houses one of the world's greatest collections of Egyptian artifacts. It boasts of more than 136,000 artifacts over fi ve thousand years of Egyptian history. The most popular attraction is the Tutankhamun Gallery where exquisite treasures from the tomb are displayed, including the famous solid gold death mask. Later we go the Khan El Khalili market - Cairo's most important shopping area for souvenirs, spices, dry fruits, jewellery and all types of typical Egyptian artifacts. The medieval atmosphere together with the labyrinth layout of the streets, gives a lot of pleasure and a glimpse into what medieval markets once were like. Late evening, bid farewell to Egypt and your Cox & Kings 'Land of the Pharaohs' tour, which comes to an end. Later transfer to the airport to board your flight back home. (B)
